I recently got back from Las Vegas, NV where I co-taught the Prime Workshop with Sarah Lane of Studio Twelve Seniors. The workshop was all about Senior Portrait Photography - how to get your name out there, market to seniors, posing, lighting, interacting with seniors, and more. We even got to take our attendees out for a 3 hour shoot in the Nevada desert with 6 incredibily styled real senior models. Even though we had the obstacle of some nasty wind, we got some glorious sunshine to work with!
I entered the day with a big pile of excitement and nerves all mixed into one. Once Sarah and I met our attendees we knew it was going to be a great day. I can't get over how amazing each woman was and how everyone connected and opened up to each other so quickly. I loved that Sarah and I got to share our hearts and passions for our business' and for teens. I know I walked away with an incredible experience and a whole slew of new of friends.
Below are some reviews of Prime I thought I'd share as well as some behind the scenes images of our day:
“The Prime Workshop was a once and a lifetime experience in my book. Meg and Sarah shared their hearts, souls and knowledge that they have for senior photography. Not only did I come home with goals of being a better photographer but after meeting them I wanted to be a better person. It was amazing not only to pick their brains but to shoot along side of them with a group of beautiful girls (and one studly guy). I learned things I didn’t even go in thinking I needed to learn. For the first time in a long time I’m excited about what the future holds. And to top it all off I’ve gained friends and a network of amazing ladies in which give me even MORE inspiration!” - Misti Davis
"I loved the Prime Workshop! Meg and Sarah are such a delight to work with. I learned so much and am still going through all of the information that was given to me! I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone trying to start their photography business. They are amazing business women and friends, and it is such a pleasure to have met them both. Their senior models were also fantastic, so sweet, and amazing to photograph! And to top it all off....a photoshoot in the desert with some of the prettiest light it in the world!" - Brenda Schmidt
"Thanks again for the amazing time in Vegas! The workshop was full of such great information, and the desert shoot was so incredible, it was a wonderful experience! Thank you again for sharing your incredible passion and heart for teenage girls with us, and your business tips and strategies that have helped you to become such a success in the industry." -Angela Healy

With the cold dark winter up on us I haven't been shooting a lot lately and wanted to do a shoot for me. Something just for fun with no strings attached. I got ahold of some amazing models and decided to do a teen inspired Valentines Day shoot. I was lucky enough to have my assistant, stylist, and sister, Jenna along for the shoot. Even though it was freezing (and I mean FREEZING), we got some beautiful images and most importantly, we had fun!!

Oh what fun I had with Kyli, tromping through the tall grass and bug infested fields! Kyli is beautiful through and through and I couldn't have asked for a more daring and "willing to do anything" senior! Can't wait to see the places she will go and the things she will do. Congrats Kyli, and best wished to you and your bright future!

Bethany was such a fun senior to work with because not only is she beautiful and photogenic, she is a photographer herself and has dabbled in taking Senior Portraits for her friends. She has loads of talent and it was so fun to collaborate with another artist! Bethany is beautiful from the inside out and radiates beauty in every way. Enjoy this sunlit senior session!

This session was one of my most memorable from this season so far. Hope decided she wanted her Senior Portraits taken at our local Benton County Fair. I was so excited to do this and knew we would have a blast, come up with some great images, and get some really great fattening food while doing it!
Hope has a joy and energy about her that is contagious. You can't help but smile and be excited when you are in her presence. I can't wait to see where life takes this beautiful young woman!

I loved everything about this session with Kelsy. The beautiful girl, the outfits (killer dress from shoperuche.com), the light, the props (boyfriend included). Kelsy has such a fun and unique personality, I even got her to dance in the field for me. Congrats beautiful Kelsy, I can't wait to see where this life takes you and all the great things that are in store for your future!

This is a special post because I have known, worked with, and photographed this 2012 senior over the last 2 years. Samantha has become more than just my signature model, more than just a a sweet teen girl I know, she has become like a little sister to me. I have said it before and I'll say it again, relationships are so very important to me, and one of the most meaningful things we have in this life. Meeting Samantha started out as any normal client relationship but over the past two years has truly developed into something deeper.
When I met her Samantha was the title holder of Miss Tri-cities Outstanding Teen and has gone on to win more titles since then including her current title, MIss Washington High School America. She obviously has a knack for modeling so we combined her senior portrait session with a portfolio building session as well. I think she has a bright future in modeling and we wanted to capture the all American teen girl and give her session a bit of a "Seventeen" magazine flair.
Her vision for her future is so big and her motivation and drive is out of this world. I can't wait to see all the amazing places this life takes her! Best of luck beautiful Samantha, reach for the stars!

The busy season is upon us and extra time is very scarce around here. I've got lots and I mean LOTS of senior sessions coming to the blog this fall. Today I wanted to share a couple interviews/features that I have done lately. I am always so so honored when I get an email asking to be interviewed. It is the highest form of flattery to be asked to share about myself and my business.
I want my readers to get a little bit more "behind the lens" look so I wanted to share a couple with you today as well as awesome new inspiration websites.
Inside the locker is an awesome inspirational blog for senior photographers. They have inspiration sessions, featured vendors, and spotlight photographers. Check out the spotlight interview for Inside the Locker by clicking the image below.
Seniorologie just launch this month and is already filled with tons of senior inspiration! Check out the archives and be inspired to take your senior portraits to the next level. This feature was just posted today and it was so fun to do. You can check it out by clicking the image below.
Go4Pro is an amazing website for photographers that are doing just that... going 4 pro! Leah has amazing tutorials, free templates, and tons of business information on how to take your business to new heights. Go check it out and click on the link below to see the interview I did with Leah.
Megan has a laugh/smile that lights up a room. You can't help but catch the giggles when you are with her. I love loved this session and how much fun we had getting these images. We found new "secret locations" (okay okay, the side of the highway!), got a bloody foot, and then ended are night with frapps from Starbucks. Megan, I can't wait to see where this life takes you and all the amazing things you will accomplish and do!

Senior season is in full swing here in the Tri cities! I love senior portraits and am so excited to start sharing all the sessions I've been working on. First up is the beautiful Cassie. We had an incredible session starting in a nest of wildflowers, then moving into more green and golden light filled fields. Can you tell by images at the end what Cassie wants to be? Her heart radiates with beauty and kindness. She is so excited to be a teacher and I think she couldn't have found a more perfect fit. I asked her to babysit my girls a couple weeks ago and my littlest who is normally shy jumped in her arms the first time she met Cassie. Cassie has a gift and its so amazing that she has already found her calling. Good luck in all you do beautiful Cassie!
These sessions make my heart sing and I enjoy every moment with these senior girls- laughing, dancing, having fun, and even grabbing iced coffees to cool off mid or post session.

I've been focusing so much on gearing up for the 2012 Senior season that I decided to take a little break and do a fun shoot. The talented Tristian from Gracylu Originals sent me a box of goodies to photograph, and I jumped at the chance to get creative. I took a few models out to a client's gorgeous property in Kennewick that overlooks the Tri-cities. Upon arrival we were told snakes had recently been spotted. Bags and reflectors in hand, I made the biggest stomping sounds I could with every step. I am terrified of snakes! Definitely should have had a "behind the scenes" for this one! We had fun shooting all the gorgeous pieces and ended with a beautiful golden sunset! Enjoy!

Can not wait for everything to finish downloading so I can start learning on all of the amazing things Meg will be teaching! Love my senior because I get to see a different side of personality than anyone else gets to experience!
